What Cary and Duane Earle began as a hot dog stand in 1984 has become a full restaurant and catering company serving people of every background.When you visit, there’s a good chance you’ll find Duane behind the register reading you the menu himself – which includes their signature flame-grilled hot dogs, turkey burgers, vegan chili cheese fries and more. During the recent LA fires, Earle’s helped feed some of the first responders, and in the thick of COVID, delivered meals to hundreds of elderly individuals. Come with us to Chicago’s iconic Chinatown for a food-filled Lunar New Year celebration!In addition to traditions like deep cleaning the house beforehand or gifting red envelopes full of crisp cash, food plays a huge role in Lunar New Year festivities. So we hit two local gems: Ken Kee and Lao Sze Chuan to take part.Our first stop, Ken Kee, is a foodie hotspot, where culture meets cool. Its colorful decor pays homage to authentic Chinese culture. We feasted on dumplings and “long noodles,” a Lunar New Year staple symbolizing longevity.At Lao Sze Chuan, the minimalist vibe gave way to bold, authentic flavors. We started with jasmine tea and cabbage for wealth, then dove into their incredible whole fish—representing prosperity and harmony.Chinatown is a cultural staple in Chicago that left us with full stomachs today, and hopefully full wallets this year.
